BE NORDIC Charity – Surf Therapy and Swimming School on Sylt
With the sale of our BE NORDIC series, we support marine conservation projects. In this project, it is not the sea that is being protected, but the sea itself that is helping children.
The non-profit association Meer Leben e.V., based on Sylt and funded by donations, offers surf therapy and surf camps for children and adolescents with cancer, as well as their siblings. Surfing and dealing with waves support the physical healing process by activating various muscle groups – and the rush of happiness does the rest.
At the surf camps, it’s not just about time in the water: community and a supportive educational program with workshops (sewing, tie-dye, screen printing, yoga, and more) are at the heart of the experience. Four days that have the power to make a lasting difference in young lives.
For young water fans, Meer Leben e.V. has founded a sea swimming school. In a sheltered bay area in Hörnum, non-swimmers are playfully and naturally taught the basics of swimming – providing both fun and safety close to the North Sea.
Peace, recovery, and a break from everyday illness-related stress – MeerLeben WattKoje is a lovingly renovated caravan at the Rantum campsite. It is made available to families accompanying a sick relative and who are financially limited.
Since August 2025, we have been financially supporting Meer Leben e.V. in continuing and expanding its projects.
